WesleyLife Announces Acquisition of
Elder Care Services in Pella
Pella Regional Health Center gifts elder care operations to WesleyLife
Des Moines, Iowa – WesleyLife today announced an acquisition agreement with Pella Regional Health Center (PRHC) for a portion of the elder care services within its family of services. Pella Manor, Fairhaven East and Jefferson Place will transition to WesleyLife ownership and management as of January 1, 2010.
For nearly 50 years Pella Regional Health Center, a private, not-for-profit health center located in Pella, IA, has dedicated itself to the mission of providing healthcare and healing services with Christian compassion. Over the past few years, PRHC has investigated options to improve all aspects of services for older adults. As part of that investigation, a national search was employed to find a like-minded partner for elder care who was mission-driven and had strong resources and a focus on enhancing resident service and quality of life. In June, those discussions centered on Iowa based WesleyLife – a sixty year old company with a proven tradition of excellence in serving older adults.
“This relationship fits WesleyLife’s vision of purposeful, market-driven growth with an organization that embraces the same mission of providing compassionate, Christ-centered care,” said Rob Kretzinger, President and CEO of WesleyLife. “We are proud of being Iowa’s most comprehensive nonprofit organization focused on successful aging. The Wesley team is excited to bring our best practices, operational systems and vision for services that support the independence, health and well-being of older adults to the Pella community.”
WesleyLife was established in 1947, employs over 1,000 associates and serves more than 4,500 older Iowans. The organization offers a full spectrum of services and amenities such as independent and assisted living apartments, short term rehabilitation or skilled nursing, Alzheimer's and memory support, in-home health services, adult day programs, hospice and more.
The acquisition of elder care services in Pella is one of the many ways that WesleyLife is growing its mission to serve more people. In July, the organization, formerly known as Wesley Retirement Services, took the name WesleyLife in reflection of its vision for growth and commitment to celebrate life and the spirit for living. That same month, the organization announced an affiliation agreement with Oklahoma City, OK, based Epworth Villa. Also, in October WesleyLife will hold the grand opening for Edgewater, its state-of-the-art active life community which opened in August in West Des Moines.
“As an organization based on Christian principles, we challenge ourselves to continually examine whether we are doing all we’re called to do to serve others,” Kretzinger said. “It’s energizing to know that we are changing lives through what we do, and we are looking forward to experiencing what the future has in store for us as we expand into new markets.”
