Home Care Aide-Community Services
Home Care Aide: Receives assignments from the scheduler or nurse and is responsible for following through with all visits at their pre-scheduled times and locations. Follows client’s care plan, schedule, and assignments as directed, maintaining a smooth flowing schedule and work environment. Seeks clarification of assignments nurse or scheduler as needed. The nurse or scheduler must make all client-scheduling changes. Provides own source of transportation to and from assignments. Communicates with clients any actions to be taken, reality orientation, prescribed or therapeutic approaches, physical care, transfers, schedule changes, etc. so that clients are informed and comfortable prior to the activity. Engages in friendly conversation with the clients while providing cares. Performs/assists with bathing, dressing, transfers, ambulation, oral hygiene, meal preparation, light house cleaning, along with other miscellaneous ADL’s. All functions are performed as assigned by the nurse and in accordance policies and procedures. Duties may also include catheter cares, and utilization of assisted devices such as a hoyer lift, walker, cane, etc… All activities are performed while maintaining clients’ normal appearance, dignity and privacy at all times.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalency. 75hr nursing assistant certification and in good standing on the Iowa Nurse Aide Registry. Acceptable background check and no record of adult abuse. Caring, compassionate ability to work with people. Ability to work in team environment. Ability to manage multiple functions under stress and with changing priorities. Ability to relate information concerning a resident’s condition. Must be able to speak, read and write fluent English. EOE and Drugfree Workplace. Apply to:
